Personality
What a Metal Hunter is like
The Metal Hunter pursues opportunity with a predator's instinct and a craftsman's precision. Your Yang Metal core element gives you decisiveness and directness, while your Adventurer force gives you a nose for opportunity that borders on supernatural. You sense value the way a hawk senses movement, instinctively, from a great distance, and with lethal accuracy.
You are not interested in safe, guaranteed returns. You are hunting for the big prize, the opportunity that others have overlooked, the deal that seems too good to be true but actually is not, the asset that is about to appreciate dramatically. Your Metal nature gives you the discipline to wait for the right target, and your Adventurer force gives you the boldness to commit fully when you find it.
Your approach to wealth is active, not passive. You do not save your way to prosperity, you hunt for it. Each day is a new territory to explore, and each interaction is a potential discovery. This makes your financial life exciting and often very rewarding, but it also requires the discipline to know when to stop hunting and protect what you have already caught.
What they are great at
- Opportunity Detection
- Your instinct for valuable opportunities is remarkably accurate. You see potential returns that analytical approaches miss.
- Decisive Commitment
- When you identify a target, you commit fully. This bold execution captures opportunities that hesitation would lose.
- Negotiation Edge
- Your Metal directness combined with your wealth instinct makes you a formidable negotiator. You cut through posturing and get to the real numbers.
- Action Orientation
- You do not just identify opportunities, you act on them. Your bias toward action, tempered by Metal precision, produces consistent results.
Where they trip up
- Trophy Hunting
- You may pursue impressive-looking opportunities that are actually distractions from more sustainable paths. Not every big target is worth the chase.
- Relationship Transactions
- Your hunter instinct can bleed into personal relationships, making people feel valued for what they offer rather than who they are.
- Rest Deficit
- The hunt never ends for you. Learning to rest, celebrate, and enjoy what you have already achieved is essential for long-term wellbeing.
At work
Venture capital, executive recruitment, sales leadership, real estate investment, commodity trading, or mergers and acquisitions. You are the ideal business development leader, deal maker, or portfolio manager. Any role where identifying and capturing high-value opportunities is the primary skill.
In love and friendship
You are generous, exciting, and protective of your partner. You show love through providing, experiences, security, and a lifestyle that reflects your hunting success. The challenge is presence. Your partner needs to feel like more than a prize you have already won. Sustained emotional engagement, not just material provision, is what keeps your relationships vital.
The chart behind it
Why they are a Metal Hunter
Core element, from the birth day
Yang Metal, the sword
Like a finely forged sword, Yang Metal personalities are decisive, courageous, and direct. They cut through complexity with clarity and conviction.
What drives them, from the birth month
Open hands, deals and saying yes to chances
The month carries Wood, which turns this chart toward open hands, deals and saying yes to chances.
Everyone whose core element is the sword belongs to one family of 8 guardians. The strongest force in the chart decides which one. Here the birth month leans toward open hands, deals and saying yes to chances, so the guardian is the Metal Hunter.
For the curious: the classical names
In BaZi terms this chart has a Geng (庚) Day Master, Yang Metal, and a Indirect Wealth (偏財, Pian Cai) month structure (格局): the month carries Wood, the element that is managed by the Day Master.
Indirect Wealth is read as wealth in motion: generous, quick to see an opening, and best when the Day Master is strong enough to carry it.
The structure is read from the month, not from a count of everything in the chart, following the classical Ziping rules. How the structure is chosen.
Their people
Earth feeds them. Fire tames them.
In the five elements, each one feeds another and tames (holds back) another. If you are a Metal Hunter, these are the friends who refill you, and the ones who push you to grow.
Feeds you: Earth
Earth feeds your Metal, like gold growing deep in the ground.
Tag the Earth friend who has always had your back.
Tames you: Fire
Fire melts your Metal and reshapes your edges.
Tag the Fire friend who melts your cold front.

Questions people ask
What is the Metal Hunter in BaZi?
The Metal Hunter (金風獵手) is one of 80 BaZi guardian spirits. Its core element is Yang Metal, the sword (庚, the Geng Day Master), and the strongest force in its chart is the Adventurer (偏財, Indirect Wealth), set by the birth month. You chase opportunity with a predator's instinct.
What element is the Metal Hunter?
The Metal Hunter is a Metal guardian (金). Earth feeds it and Fire tames it. The Metal element embodies precision, boundaries, and the capacity to let go. In classical Five Element thought, Metal belongs to autumn and its emotion is grief, the ability to value what matters, release what doesn't, and draw clear lines. When balanced, Metal becomes discernment, discipline, and the courage to cut away excess. When excessive, it turns into rigidity, cold perfectionism, or an inability to move past loss. Metal personalities see the world with rare clarity, but must learn that not everything worth keeping is flawless.
How do I know if I am a Metal Hunter?
It comes from your exact birth date and time. You need the sword as your core element (庚), and your birth month has to make the Adventurer the strongest force in your chart. Cast your free chart on Elemental Fate to see which of the 80 guardians is yours.

Is BaZi the same as the Chinese zodiac?
No. The Chinese zodiac uses only your birth year. BaZi (also called the Four Pillars of Destiny) reads your year, month, day and hour, written as 8 Chinese characters. Your core element and the strongest force in your chart together give your guardian, such as the Metal Hunter.
